Singer/Impressionist Paul Tanner brings world-famous voices to VCC   Sarasota County Parks and Recreation to host Spring Youth Fishing Tournament
Famed singer and impressionist Paul Tanner has performed for Pope John Paul II at Shea Stadium and sold out audiences in Las Vegas and on Broadway. Now, he will bring his critically acclaimed one-man show to the Venice Community Center, 326 S. Nokomis Ave., Venice, at 7 p.m. Saturday, June 9, for one night only. Tanner performs renditions of songs by Elvis, Tom Jones, Engelbert Humperdink, Neil Diamond, Barry Manilow, Roger Miller, Nat King Cole, Julio Iglesias, Willie Nelson and others. (MORE)   Children age 14 and under are invited to the annual Sarasota County Parks and Recreation Spring Youth Fishing Tournament 8-10 a.m. Saturday, May 19, at Nokomis Beach, 901 Casey Key Road, Nokomis. Pre-registration is required; it costs $1 and can be done in person at Laurel Park, 509 Collins Road, Laurel or by calling 941-486-2753. Children must bring their own fishing gear. New county online procurement system goes live May 21   Snook Haven Restaurant to close for the summer

Sarasota County's new online procurement system, eProcure, is going live May 21, replacing the current online service (DemandStar) with a free, single website for Sarasota County solicitations, policies, procedures and forms. Effective May 21, vendors must register with eProcure to participate in any solicitation opportunities of $3,000 or higher. Vendors who register with eProcure will be automatically notified when solicitations are issued that potentially match their qualifications.  (MORE)

  The Snook Haven Restaurant located in Snook Haven Park, 5000 E. Venice Ave., Venice, will close for the summer Sarasota County Parks and Recreation performs maintenance and seeks a new concession vendor. The current, Sunrise Sunset Concessions, LLC has notified the county that they are unable to live up to the terms of their agreement and will vacate the premises by June 7. The public will continue to have access to the park including the popular canoe/kayak launch on the Myakka River. (MORE)
