All county residents will be able to get a free discount
prescription card under a program announced today by Sarasota
County. The Coast2Coast RX
card is expected to save residents an average of 35 percent on
the retail cost of prescriptions.

without Internet access can use computers at public
libraries.
The Coast2Coast
Rx discount card is honored at all major chain
pharmacies and many independent pharmacies. Although the card is
not insurance, it can save people anywhere from 5 percent to 70
percent on virtually all generic and brand-name drugs.

What if the cardholder is a Medicare Part D participant?

Medicare Part D participants are usually
age 65 and over. There is a gap in participant coverage
that is called the “donut hole,” and Medicare
participants can pay up to $1,500 per year out of
pocket.

Medicare Part D participants need to check with their
insurance provider to see if the card will help them in
the "donut hole" phase.
